‘Apex Legends’ Hacked in Response to ‘Titanfall’ Server Hacks

There have been multiple reports across social media about a hacking attack on the Apex Legends servers, effectively locking players out from queuing up for matches. The hack also placed messages about Respawn’s Titanfall series in the Apex’s server playlist and post-match popup. The messages read “SAVETITANFALL.COM, TF1 is being attacked so is Apex” and “Visit and repost savetitanfall.com” respectively.

However, the “savetitanfall.com” site has indicated that it “nor the Discord servers listed below, are in [any] way associated with the recent Apex Legends hack.”

For the last few months, the savetitanfall.com site has been trying to draw attention to Titanfall and the issues that affect it, namely the hackers who have rendered the game unplayable. Titanfall has struggled for several years now as hackers continually take down servers and fill the lobbies that manage to start with bots. As a multiplayer-only game, this practically makes Titanfall unplayable outside of the brief moments of server uptime every now and then. To make matters worse, the game remains on sale across various platforms despite the issues.

Respawn promised players that “help is coming,” but the servers have continued to get taken down. These server issues have regularly affected the game for a number of years and have frequently left the game unplayable anywhere from a few days to weeks at a time. As of now, Titanfall boasts an overwhelmingly negative rating on Steam, with reviews and discussion posts speaking about the unplayable state of the game.

This is the second time this year that Apex Legends has been hit by hacking and DDoS attacks. Respawn promised that it would take steps to prevent these issues from occurring again in the future.

While it’s frustrating to see Apex Legends taken down for a few hours, it’s also understandable why these hackers lashed out the way they did. Titanfall has had worse issues for even longer, and both EA and Respawn have been beating around the bush when it comes to properly addressing the problems. While the hack was not the way to make their voices heard, it’s clear that player frustrations are reaching a breaking point.
