James Gunn Reveals Iconic DC Characters He Considered for ‘The Suicide Squad’
The Suicide Squad is one of the most anticipated movies of the year but it could’ve looked very different than the current vision we’re getting now. James Gunn has littered the cast with obscure DC characters like Polka Dot Man and Peacemaker. However, he was originally eyeing some more notable names.
Gunn revealed on Twitter a litany of characters he was considering for the film. The characters included Deathstroke, Mr. Freeze, Poison Ivy and many more.
When I first considered taking the job of writing #TheSuicideSquad I kept a file folder of characters I was considering. Here are just a few (of many) that didn't make the cut (for now!) https://t.co/xvOoEzJwMI pic.twitter.com/hwVFB9wi6W

Gunn revealed that he chose specific characters that would be best for the story he was trying to tell over just throwing in characters he likes the most. Deathstroke would’ve been very interesting as we’ve already seen him in the DCEU portrayed by Joe Manganiello. He was supposed to get his own solo movie but that doesn’t look like it’s happening now. An appearance in The Suicide Squad could’ve revitalized interest in Deathstroke getting a film.
