Release Date for Season 2 of ‘The Witcher’ Revealed

The Witcher was a big surprise hit for Netflix back in 2019. It’s been over a year since the first season was released but the crew has been hard at work getting season two ready. Though proudction recently wrapped, it’s still going to take a while for the effects-heavy show to be ready for viewing.

Netflix announced on Friday that the second season will be released on December 17, 2021.

That puts almost exactly two years between the first and second seasons. While the first season was mostly a success, there were a lot issues. The switching of timelines was confusing, some of the casting choices were poor and the Nilfgaardian armor looked terrible. We’re likely stuck with some of the bad casting choices but showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich has already come out and said that the second season will have a linear timeline and the Nilfgaardian armor will look different.

Those are already two promising signs. Another issue is that Geralt didn’t have much of a chance to fight monsters. Considering the first season was such a big success, the budget porbably got a bit of a boost. That should mean there will be plenty of more monster hunting is in Henry Cavill’s future.

If you head over to IGN, you can take a glance at the first monster we’ll be seeing in season two.
