‘Thor: Ragnarok’ Director Taika Waititi in Hot Water With Disney: Report

Taika Waititi is one of the hottest names in Hollywood these days. He won an Academy Award last year for Jojo Rabbit and is linked to a number of big projects, including an untitled Star Wars film and Thor: Love and Thunder. He’s clearly become a major player at Disney but that could be in jeopardy.

Recently, photos surfaced of Waititi being very interment with Tessa Thompson, who is starring in the Thor sequel, and singer Rita Ora. For the most part, it seemed like fans were really excited about what has been perceived as a possible polyamorous relationship. However, nothing has been confirmed. The three could’ve easily been under the influence of alcohol and got a little touchy. Also, it shouldn’t really matter if they are all in some kind of relationship as they were having fun in private when an opportunistic photographer caught a glimpse of them.

Regardless, Disney isn’t happy, according to The Daily Telegraph as a source told them that Waititi’s behavior is “not exactly the image they’re looking to project in relation to one of their biggest franchises”. They also reported that the director is a “party animal” and that he may have “crossed a line” with Marvel’s leadership.

This seems rather ridiculous. Waititi is allowed to do whatever he wants as a private citizen. If James Gunn can tweet horrific pedophilic tweets because he was joking and still get his job back, Waititi should be in no danger of getting fired. Disney has invested way too much into him let a couple of photos derail their relationship. He’s not going anywhere.
