DC Hints at More Movies Planned for ‘The Suicide Squad’ Director James Gunn
After a few misfires early on, the DCEU appears to be finding its rhythm. The Suicide Squad is already a hit with critics and should resonate with fans, as well. The man behind the film is director James Gunn, who was also responsible for bringing Guardians of the Galaxy to the forefront of pop culture.
DC was able to snag Gunn away from Disney after he was briefly fired for some controversial tweets. They eventually decided to bring him back for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 but he had already signed on to The Suicide Squad. It now looks like he’ll be bouncing back and forth between each mega studio. According to DC Films president Walter Hamada, the plan is for Gunn is come back to the studio at some point.
“Gunn is always welcome back, whatever he wants to do. He really has a vision and he’s a great partner with us. Whenever he wants to come back, we’re ready for him,” Hamada said, per The Hollywood Reporter. “He’ll be back. We have more stuff planned.”
Gunn is set to write and direct some episodes of The Suicide Squad spin-off Peacemaker, but that’s not likely what Hamada is referring to. The studio will almost certainly want him to make more movies, especially if The Suicide Squad is a hit with fans.
