Zack Snyder Considered Including Ryan Reynolds in ‘Justice League’
Once it was revealed that a “Justice League” movie was coming out, it was a bit of a surprise that Green Lantern wasn’t part of it. He’s one of DC’s most popular characters and he’s almost always part of the team. A big reason he wasn’t included was because the 2011 “Green Lantern” film starring Ryan Reynolds was a critical and commericial flop.
Reynolds himself has even gone so far as to bash the movie in both “Deadpool” films. Despite the fact that his version of the character is widely hated, director Zack Snyder did consider adding Reynolds as Green Lantern into his Justice League film.
“There was another idea I had for the Green Lantern that wasn’t Ryan,” Snyder told The Hollywood Reporter. “I thought that if we had gone down this path [with] Green Lantern, I would’ve had to have Ryan as the additional Lantern. But that’s another story.”

Thanks to Deadpool, Reynolds is one of the biggest names in Hollywood these days. It’s easy to see why Snyder would want to put him in the movie. However, it’s hard to imagine the actor would want to revisit Green Lantern unless he was going to make a joke of it. Regardless, the movie came out a decade ago and DC should have more Green Lantern content out eventually.
