Gina Carano Breaks Silence on Disney Firing, Announces Bold New Partnership
Despite Disney’s decision to fire Gina Carano from “The Mandalorian,” it appears she’s not going anywhere. On Friday, Carano revealed to Deadline that she is teaming up with popular conservative figure Ben Shapiro and his website The Daily Wire on a new movie project.
“The Daily Wire is helping make one of my dreams — to develop and produce my own film — come true,” Carano told Deadline. “I cried out and my prayer was answered. I am sending out a direct message of hope to everyone living in fear of cancellation by the totalitarian mob. I have only just begun using my voice which is now freer than ever before, and I hope it inspires others to do the same. They can’t cancel us if we don’t let them.”
The plan is for Carano to develop, produce and star in the project.
“We could not be more excited to be working with Gina Carano, an incredible talent dumped by Disney and Lucasfilm for offending the authoritarian Hollywood Left. This is what Daily Wire exists to do: provide an alternative not just for consumers, but for creators who refuse to bow to the mob,” Shapiro told Deadline.
“We’re eager to bring Gina’s talent to Americans who love her, and we’re just as eager to show Hollywood that if they want to keep cancelling those who think differently, they’ll just be helping us build the Xwing to take down their Death Star,” he added.

Carano has become popular in right-wing circles over the last year over her tendency to speak her mind on political issues.
This Will Be Fascinating to Watch
As Shapiro stated, conservatives feel like they’ve been shunned by Hollywood in the past. It appears that side of the political aisle is going to start trying to create their own content instead of trying to make it work with Hollywood. That said, Carano is an interesting figure to hitch their wagon to.
She has no producing credit in her career and isn’t considered a big star. The Daily Wire has one production under their belt in “Run Hide Fight,” which currently sits at 25% on Rotten Tomatoes but holds a 93% audience score. This could turn into a giant waste of time for The Daily Wire and Carano but it will certainly be fascinating to watch.
