First 7 Minutes of New ‘Mortal Kombat’ Film Released [WATCH]
For years, video game movies have been cursed. There just haven’t been very many good movies based on games. One of the few enjoyable adaptations was the Mortal Kombat movie that came out in 1995. While not exactly high art, it’s a fun and ridiculous action movie that could only work in the 90s.
Fast forward 26 years and now we’re getting a reboot of the franchise. Directed by newcomer Simon McQuoid, Mortal Kombat appears as if it is going to embrace the martial arts side of the franchise. We’ve seen a boom in great martial arts movies in recent years and perhaps that will lead to us getting a solid Mortal Kombat movie.
Just ahead of the Friday release of the film on HBO Max, the first seven minutes of the movie were released online.

Based on this clip, it looks like Mortal Kombat will have some excellent action at the very least. That should be just fine as this story doesn’t exactly need a life-changing script.
