‘Halo Infinite’ Receives Official Release Date & New Trailer

During the Gamescom Opening Night Live event on Wednesday, Microsoft officially announced that Halo Infinite will release on December 8. The announcement came shortly after a leak earlier in the day.

Alongside the announcement is the intro cinematic for the first season of Halo Infinite’s free-to-play multiplayer which features Commander Agryna and how she came to know the Spartans. A multiplayer story would help keep it from feeling disconnected from the main game, so it’ll be interesting to see it develop as each season progresses.

During Gamescom’s Halo Infinite segment, we also got a special look at the new themed Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2 and the limited-edition Xbox Series X console, both of which were designed to celebrate Halo’s 20th anniversary. The bundle is priced at $549 and will be available starting November 15.

While it’s exciting to finally have an official release date for Infinite, it’s important to remember that the game will only be launching with the single-player campaign and multiplayer. In order to meet their holiday release window, 343 Industries made the decision to delay the co-op campaign and Forge mode until well after the release. If you were looking forward to playing through the campaign with friends or creating content through Forge, you’ll have to wait a few more months.
