‘VALORANTS’ Next Patch Brings Much Needed Love to Viper & Yoru

“VALORANTS” Patch 2.06 is now here, bringing with it necessary agent updates to Viper and Yoru. Viper has been struggling to find her footing against other Controllers for a number of patches now and Yoru has struggled to excel in his teleporting Duelist playstyle since his release. The game’s next update will hopefully address some of these struggles and help bring both agents closer in power to the rest of “VALORANTS” roster.

The most significant changes to come with this update are Viper’s. “When compared to other Controllers, we want Viper to make big, committed decisions that truly alter the map and how both sides plan around her influence,” Riot writes in the patch notes. Viper’s poison will now instantly inflict up to 50 decay upon contact with her Poison Cloud, Toxic Screen, or Viper’s Pit. Decay is temporary damage that increases the longer a player remains in contact with these abilities. On the bright side, the decayed health regenerates faster now. In addition, Viper’s Snakebite equips faster, and her Toxic Screen and Poison Cloud now lingers for an additional 2 seconds are her death.

Yoru’s update is lighter than Viper’s but looks promising. His Blindside’s flash now activates faster and blinds for longer. His signature teleporting ability Gatecrash now refreshes every 35 seconds rather than every two kills. Gatecrash also lasts longer and is only visible within 4 meters of its location. Finally, Yoru’s ultimate, Dimensional Drift, has been reduced to 6 ult points from 7. Yoru is also able to reactivate Gatecrash while in Dimensional Drift.

The next patch also targets the Bucky with several nerfs to its damage, namely to the gun’s alternate fire. The amount of pellets the alt-fire shoots has been reduced from 15 to 5 and the damage of each pellet has also been reduced. The shotgun has been a powerful weapon for the last few patches now, but the nerf will hopefully bring it more in line with the rest of “VALORANTS” weapons.

Patch 2.06 launches on March 31st. You can view Riot’s full patch notes here.
