The Problems With Season 2 of ‘The Mandalorian’
The second season of “The Mandalorian” has wrapped and the consensus is that people love it. The hype for the show is at an all-time high. However, this recent season of “Mando” is wildly overrated. Matt, Gabe and myself (Austin) decided to do a full hour podcast on some of the problems with season two.
We recorded this before we had watched the season finale so our thoughts only reflect episodes 1-7. Though we don’t discuss it in the pod, I’ll give my brief thoughts on the finale.
It was an absolute dumpster fire. I thought the finale of season one was the best hour of Star Wars since “The Return of the Jedi.” You know why it was so good? Because it told a self-contained story that was about the characters we’ve been following in the show.
SPOILERS: The decision to insert CGI Luke Skywalker was so irritating. Not only did he look awful, but his insertion also took away from the episode. Seeing how the potential conflict between Bo-Katan and Mando could playout was far more interesting than that whole section with Luke. Just because a show or movie inserts a beloved character from previous stories does NOT mean it’s good. It’s cheap, it’s lazy and it’s manipulative. Season two of Mando feels like it exists to please fans and set up future shows instead of telling a new, interesting story. That’s highly irritating and Disney should not be getting so much praise for this sad excuse of a second season.
Here’s the YouTube video for the podcast, but you can also listen to it on Apple Podcast. Also, give us a follow on Facebook!
