Nintendo Announces Switch Release of Beloved Legend of Zelda Game

Unfortunately, Nintendo didn’t have an update for the Breath of the Wild sequel that’s in development but they did have a different bombshell. During Wednesday’s Nintendo Direct, it was announced that “The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword” is going to be released in HD on the Switch. It’s a move that has been talked about for a while but it’s finally happening.

The game will come out on July 16th of this year! One interesting element is that Nintendo is making it to where you can play with motion controls or utilize a more traditional control scheme. That was one of the worries about a potential release of Skyward Sword on Switch, but it appears they have figure out how to make it work.

According to Metacritic, Skyward Sword is the seventh-best Legend of Zelda game of all time with a score of 93.  This will now give many who didn’t get to play the game on the Wii a chance to finally experience one of the most acclaimed games of the last decade.

Plus, Nintendo revealed that they’ll be releasing Joy-Cons inspired by Legend of Zelda.
