Possible ‘Saints Row’ Reboot Teased, Could Be Revealed at Gamescom

When the first Saints Row game came to consoles in 2006, it was largely seen as a Grand Theft Auto rip-off. The open-world sandbox gangster game quickly evolved into its own unique thing. Saints Row took everything that GTA did well and made it crazier. By the time we got to the fourth game, we had alien evasions, superpowers and trips to hell. Unfortunately, the series jumped the shark with the fourth installment as the addition of superpowers made the game too easy.

We’ve seen some remasters in recent years but it appeared the series was pretty much dead. That may not actually be the case. The Game Awards and Gamescom Opening Night Live’s Geoff Keighley tweeted out a message on Friday night that gave a not-so-subtle tease. He posted a video with a saints logo and the word “rebooting.” When you click on the link in his tweet, it takes you to the official Saints Row website.

Obviously, nothing has been confirmed yet. This could just be a tease for a possible remaster of one or both of the first two games. However, it sure seems like we’ll be getting a new Saints Row game in the near future. Hopefully, the series goes back to its roots.
