Ryan Reynolds Offers Key Update on ‘Deadpool 3’

Despite being a very successful franchise, the future of Deadpool has been murky after Disney acquired the rights to the property. There isn’t a series of movies less suited for Disney’s brand than the Deadpool ones. However, the studio can’t avoid the huge moneymaker that is Deadpool so we’ll be getting a third one starring Ryan Reynolds in the title role.

There isn’t much known about the film quite yet as they’ve yet to start shooting it. Fans of the franchise will have to wait a bit longer as not even Reynolds can’t give a firm timeframe for filming, but he does have a general idea.

“The percentage chance? I don’t know, Reynolds told Collider. “I couldn’t assign a percentage to that. I’d say it’s 50/50 maybe? We’re really actively developing it and getting it into pretty good shape. What the hell month is it? August? Oh next year? Probably pretty damn good. I’d say 70%.”

That’s just a 70% chance that they start filming in 2022 so it’s highly unlikely we see Deadpool 3 until 2023. It’s still early in the process for the film but Reynolds did offer an update on how the script is going.

“It’s something that is just a daily process. Writing is kind of like that, you’ve gotta allot time to do it and walk away, and I’m working with the Molyneuxs on it, it’s been great. They’re incredibly talented and so, so smart. They so understand that world and know how to zig when everyone’s expecting a zag, so it’s been a lot of fun.”

Deadpool 3 is going to be a fascinating production to watch as it integrates with Disney and their MCU.
