‘The Last of Us’ TV Series Lands Pair of ‘Game of Thrones’ Stars
It appears a TV adaptation of the popular “The Last of Us” game series is actually going to happen at HBO. A live-action adaptation of the video game has been talked about for a while now and we finally have something tangible. According to The Hollywood Reporter, HBO has cast Pedro Pascal in the role of Joel, who is the main protagonist of the first game. Also included in the announcement was the decision to cast Bella Ramsey in the role of Ellie. Pascal reacted to the big news.

Pascal’s notoriety has skyrocketed in recent years due to his roles in “Game of Thrones,” “The Mandalorian” and “Wonder Woman 1984.” If you’ve seen him in the 2018 film “Prospect,” it’s easy to see why he was the choice to play Joel. He plays the conflicted antihero with perfection.
Ramsey is a less notable name but fans of Game of Thrones will be familiar with her thanks to her memorable performance as Lyanna Mormont. It’s an inspired choice for HBO to go with a lesser-known, especially when fellow Game of Thrones star Maisie Williams previously stated that should we would have interest in playing Ellie. Craig Mazin of “Chernobyl” fame will be a writer and producer on the show, along with Neil Druckmann, who wrote and directed the game.
