Joss Whedon Threatened Gal Gadot During ‘Justice League’ Shoot: Report

It wasn’t all that long ago that Joss Whedon was one of the hottest directors in Hollywood. His “Avengers” film was one of the most successful ever and probably could’ve become one of the most powerful voices in the business had “Avengers: Age of Ultron” not been a disappointment. At this point, it’s well documented that he was the worst choice possible to take over “Justice League” after Zack Snyder had to step away. Not only did he put together a truly terrible movie, but he was also reportedly abusive to the cast.

Cyborg actor Ray Fisher has been the most vocal Whedon opponent and more have followed. A recent story from The Hollywood Reporter shed many more concerning details on what happened during filming. According to the story, Whedon was completely dismissive of any suggestions from Gal Gadot and Jason Mamoa. It was also revealed that Gadot had to go to battle with Whedon:

The biggest clash, sources say, came when Whedon pushed Gadot to record lines she didn’t like, threatened to harm Gadot’s career and disparaged Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins. While Fisher declines to discuss any of what transpired with Gadot, a witness on the production who later spoke to investigators says that after one clash, “Joss was bragging that he’s had it out with Gal. He told her he’s the writer and she’s going to shut up and say the lines and he can make her look incredibly stupid in this movie.”
A knowledgeable source says Gadot and Jenkins went to battle, culminating in a meeting with then-Warners chairman Kevin Tsujihara. Asked for comment, Gadot says in a statement: “I had my issues with [Whedon] and Warner Bros. handled it in a timely manner.”

Gadot was clearly the wrong person to pick a fight with as “Wonder Woman” was a huge success for the studio and Patty Jenkins earned a lot of power within the studio. One of the best parts about Warner Bros. finally releasing the Snyder Cut is that it essentially erases Whedon’s movie. Obviously, it will always exist but nobody will be thinking of that film when they think about the Justice League.
