Disney Fires Gina Carano Over Latest Controversy

It appears Gina Carano’s latest controversy was too much for Disney and Lucasfilm. On Wednesday, “The Mandalorian” star trended on Twitter for a post on her Instagram story that appeared to compare Republicans in modern-day America to Jewish people during the Holocaust. This was not the first time she’s stirred controversy has she made comments that were deemed to be transphobic. Disney wasn’t too quick to pull the trigger in the past but they’ve finally decided to part ways with the actor.

“Gina Carano is not currently employed by Lucasfilm and there are no plans for her to be in the future,” a Lucasfilm spokesperson said in a statement, per The Hollywood Reporter. “Nevertheless, her social media posts denigrating people based on their cultural and religious identities are abhorrent and unacceptable.”

Carano was also dropped by UTA, which was her agency previously. Apparently, Disney has been wanting to get rid of her and they seized the latest opportunity.

“They have been looking for a reason to fire her for two months, and today was the final straw,” a source told THR.

This is a very bold move from Disney that will certainly ruffle a lot of feathers.
