Sony Cancels Sequel for Popular PS4 Game: Report
Though the PlayStation 5 has been out for a while now, Sony has yet to drop very many exclusive games for the console. One game that figured to be in the works was the sequel to Bend Studio’s Days Gone. The open-world zombie game was critically panned upon its release but found a new following once the studio was able to work out many of the bugs. Despite the critical reception, the game was one of the top-selling PS4 games ever so a sequel seemed inevitable.
However, to the disappointment of many fans, a sequel won’t be made. According to a report from Bloomberg, Sony will not be moving forward with the franchise. Bend Studio pitched their idea for a sequel but Sony turned them down due to the rocky development and critical reception for the first game. Apparently, Sony would rather work on a remake of The Last of Us, which seems completely unnecessary. Personally, I was a big fan of Days Gone. I only recently played it after it was on sale online. I ended up really liking the game and did almost everything there was to do. I was hyped up for the idea of a sequel but it looks like it isn’t happening. The story of Deacon St. John is over before it even started.
