Additional Resident Evil Village demos

In case you’re still on the fence about whether to pick up Resident Evil Village when it releases, Capcom announced that two new demos will be releasing prior to the game’s May 7th release date. The two 30-minute demos will center around the game’s Village and Castle areas. There are different time windows for when players will be able to experience the demos, although PlayStation owners will be able to access them earlier.

Mercenaries mode returns in Resident Evil Village

Resident Evil’s Mercenaries game mode will be returning in Resident Evil Village. The fast-paced arcade mode features waves of enemies to defeat and missions to complete across the game’s various locations. New additions to the game mode include a shop that lets you upgrade and customize your loadout between waves and new, unlockable abilities that’ll increase your survivability.

Resident Evil 4 VR rerelease

Capcom also announced that Resident Evil 4 will be returning in VR form for the Oculus Quest 2. The game will be receiving a massive overhaul that changes the game from a third- to first-person shooter, as well as utilizing the Quest 2’s motion controls to interact with weapons, objects, and enemies. More information about the upcoming release will be revealed during the first-ever Oculus Gaming Showcase on April 21st.

Resident Evil crosses over with Dead By Daylight

In honor of the franchise’s many contributions to the survival horror genre, Resident Evil will be having a crossover with Dead By Daylight. While not much information was revealed during today’s announcement, more information will be coming during the upcoming Dead By Daylight livestream taking place on May 25th.

Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness

Last but not least, Capcom released a trailer for Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness, an animated series coming to Netflix in July 2021. The show is set two years after the events of Resident Evil 4 and stars Leon S. Kennedy and Claire Redfield while they attempt to survive a zombie outbreak within the White House. The trailer also featured President Graham, Ashley’s father from Resident Evil 4.
