‘Cyberpunk 2077’ Returns to PS Store Despite Lingering Issues
After nearly six months, the digital version of Cyberpunk 2077 has finally returned to the PS Store—but that doesn’t mean the game’s out of hot water yet. Sony has warned that base PS4 players could still experience major performance issues. They’ve promised that these issues will be gradually ironed out as developer CD Projekt Red continues to roll out fixes throughout the remainder of the year.
But the return of Cyberpunk to the store begs the question: why? The game was was originally removed because of the performance issues. Why would it return while those problems remain unfixed?
In an official tweet about the game’s return to the storefront, Sony explicitly said that players would be better off if they played the PS4 Pro or the PS5 versions of the game.

Despite the decision, it remains unclear if all the issues plaguing the PS4 version will be fixed by the end of 2021. CD Projekt Red has continued to reassure players that they are hard at work ironing out all of the faults in Cyberpunk 2077.
Since its launch, the game has received numerous patches to try and address bugs and performance issues across all platforms. While some of these patches have succeeded in fixing key problems, it’s hard to say if they’ll be enough to salvage the game’s reputation.
Before its disappointing release, Cyberpunk 2077 was one of the most highly-anticipated games of the last few years. Coming off the critical success of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, CD Projekt Red was confident that their next game would meet all expectations. However after numerous delays, Cyberpunk 2077 crashed and burned right before the finish line.
Despite all of the problems that have plagued both the game and the company, it’s somewhat admirable that CD Projekt Red remains determined to support the game. Other developer might’ve left Cyberpunk to rot, but it seems that CDPR will continue their work to release the experience they’d promised.
