Key Details Emerge on ‘The Mandalorian’ Season 3 & ‘Book of Boba Fett’
By the ending of season two of The Mandalorian, the direction of the show seemed a bit odd. There was a finality to the season finale which has led some to question where the show might be going. It also didn’t help that Disney hasn’t offered much of an update on the show while hyping up a number of other Star Wars projects.
However, Disney still has big plans for the show. Collider dropped a number of key details on the third season of The Mandalorian and also updated the status The Book of Boba Fett:
Upcoming spinoff series The Book of Boba Fett has officially wrapped filming and is on schedule for a December premiere on Disney+, as was previously confirmed. The Mandalorian, which reintroduced Temuera Morrison’s bounty hunter to the Star Wars franchise, revealed the new spinoff at the end of Season 2, and The Book of Boba Fett has been filming in Los Angeles on the same stage as the first series created by Jon Favreau for Disney+.
The Book of Boba Fett will be a more closely-linked spinoff as well and sources have told us to think of the series as “The Mandalorian Season 2.5,” with characters from The Mandalorian slated to appear in the series that currently co-stars Ming-Na Wen as Fennec Shand.
It doesn’t come as a surprise that the two shows will be connected as they both deal with similar characters. That said, Collider also reported that season three of The Mandalorian won’t start production until the end of 2021 or the beginning of 2022. That means we won’t be seeing new episodes of the show for quite some time.
Lastly, Collider noted that the Obi-Wan Kenobi show is currently in production. Though we won’t be getting new adventures with Mando for a while, there will be plenty of Star Wars content coming out in the near future.
